About four miles across the Solent from the south coast of England lies the scenic countryside of the Isle of Wight, an ideal base for a short break or a holiday at any time of year.
Medlars is a stone built country house offering a very high standard of bed and breakfast accommodation near Yarmouth and Newport, the island's county town.

This lovely rural location in the western corner of the Isle of Wight is a haven of peace and quiet, within a short walk of the ferry link from Yarmouth to Lymington at the foot of the New Forest National Park.
Guests can be collected from the ferry terminal as they arrive on the island, and this is a welcome option for visitors travelling without their own car.
There are many varied walks and cycle tracks to discover on the Isle of Wight, so exploring on foot or by bike has been a popular way to spend a holiday here since the Victorian era.
There is a choice of two very comfortable bedrooms, one with a 4-poster double bed and garden views, the other with either a double or twin beds (plus an extra single if required) overlooking the surrounding countryside.
A hearty breakfast is served every morning - the ever popular Full English Breakfast is available, as is a Continental style breakfast selection.
Normal breakfast time is 8am until 9am, but other times can be arranged (ideal for sailors or ferry passengers who need to make an early start to the day). Vegetarian or special diets can easily be catered for with prior notice.
Within a short walk is the harbour town of Yarmouth where a number of interesting shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs welcome Isle of Wight tourists.

This B&B accommodation is completely non-smoking, and children under 5 years of age are not accepted. Guests can bring a well behaved dog (by arrangement) but should note that Liz has two small terriers of her own in the house.
